Mickael Pietrus
Pietrus was signed by the Boston Celtics a few weeks ago. He is a spot- up shooter and can hopefully provide a spark off the bench. In July, he had a minor knee surgery. He failed his physical in Phoenix, which is one of the reasons they did not resign him. Now, Danny Ainge hopes that Pietrus will be able to make his Celtics debut in the next few weeks, hopefully by mid- January.
Past Injuries this Year
Paul Pierce
Paul Pierce has been injured since early December, in training camp. He has what was first referred to as a sore heal, now after recent MRI's, it is known he has suffered a bone bruise. Pierce missed practically the entire training camp and both preseason games. He also missed the first 3 games of the season, and is doubtful for Friday's home game vs the Detroit Pistons. Pierce has participated in warm ups and shoot around, and has worked out on various occasions, experiencing limited soreness. "I don't see myself being out for a month or two, right now it is day- to- day." Paul told the press a few days ago. He is expected to return in the next couple of weeks.
Last season, Pierce averaged 18.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists. Mediocre players such as Marquis Daniels and Sasha Pavlovic have been expected to fill his void. They had a tough time shutting down offensive machines Lebron James and Carmelo Anthony, and could not provide much offensive sparks. Sasha is averaging 2.5 points, while Marquis is averaging 6.5.
